  - Peter Garrity was born in County Galway, Ireland on August 24, 1863, and came to the U.S. in 1885 arriving in this city on October 19 of that year. He at once engaged in railway work, being connected with Big Four Railway company in the capacity of car inspector. After six years at this occupation, Mr. Garrity _____ business and has been so engaged for the last 24 years in Springfield. He married on April __ 1893? to Bridget Griffin of Pittsburg who still survives him together with three children Edward, Margaret and Agnes Marie.
  - note oldest son was named for father's father. Daughter Margaret was probably named for father's sister who remained in Ireland.
