Biography of Thompson WHITE

Thompson WHITE  was born on July 11, 1807 in Westmoreland County, PA. He was 25 years old when he married Martha CURRY.

1833, June 20 - Thompson WHITE married Martha CURRY. They had three children all born in Wellsburg, Brooke Co., W. VA.

1834- Jun 24  Hugh WHITE  was born in Wellsburg, W. VA

1839 - June 23  Elizabeth Mitchel WHITE, Wellsburg, West Virginia  This child died  January 05, 1840 at the age of six months. Her mother, Martha died six weeks later.

When Martha died in 1840, she was buried in Grove Cemetery, W. Middleton, Washington County, PA. Perhaps this is due to family ties at the cemetery? Thompson was 33 years old with a son, Hugh, about 6 and daughter, Mary Margaret, about 4 when their mother died.

A year and a month later he married Sarah FULTON. They had six children and were married 21 years when she died of cancer in 1862.  He was 54 at the time of Sarah's death. The
Civil War (1861-1865) broke out while she was dying. They lived near the Mason-Dixon Line, the area of SW PA that was often claimed by PA. Land deeds for the "Steam Mill" purchased by Thompson and Sarah WHITE are dated May 1855.
